This Privacy Policy explains how Perch ("Perch", "we", "us", or "our"), a Shopify application, collects, uses, and protects information when a merchant installs and uses the app on their Shopify store. By installing or using Perch, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Who we are

Perch is a competitor price‑monitoring app for Shopify merchants. It lets a merchant add competitor store URLs and automatically tracks publicly available price, stock, and product changes. For any privacy questions, contact us at byjossone@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect

Store and account data: when you install Perch via Shopify, we receive your store domain and an authentication token that lets the app operate on your behalf. We may also store your contact email for support and alerts.
App usage data: the competitor store URLs you add, your plan, settings, and activity within the app (for example, when checks run).
Competitor data: publicly available product and pricing information from the competitor store URLs you choose to monitor. This is public catalog data, not personal data.

3. Information we do NOT collect

Perch does not request or access your store's customer personal data (such as customer names, addresses, emails, or order details). The app operates with product and store‑level permissions only and is read‑only with respect to competitor stores.

4. How we use information

To provide the core service: monitoring competitor catalogs and detecting price, stock, and product changes.
To send you notifications and alerts about relevant changes.
To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the app.
To provide customer support and respond to your requests.

5. Sharing and service providers

We do not sell your data. We share information only with service providers ("subprocessors") that help us run Perch, and only as needed to provide the service:

Hosting infrastructure to run the application and store its data.
Email delivery to send alerts and transactional messages.
Shopify, through its official APIs, to authenticate and operate the app.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of others.

6. Data retention and deletion

We retain your app data for as long as Perch is installed on your store. When you uninstall the app, or upon request, we delete the associated store data within a reasonable period. You can request deletion at any time by emailing byjossone@gmail.com.

7. Security

We use industry‑standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and limit access to it.

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) and CCPA (California), including the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at byjossone@gmail.com.

9. International data transfers

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own. Where required, we take steps to ensure your data receives an adequate level of protection.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Perch after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
